I know you guys don't like essays, but this one you don't have to grade :D Below is my experience with these two dealerships and the hassle they BOTH put me through.
At first both dealerships took care of me just fine. Never had issues with Cerritos, but Metro is MUCH closer so I decided to start going to them. I kept getting an Asian guy that slams on the keyboard when he types...so funny, you will think he is pissed off. Anyway, this last time I went there was a different guy which I have seen before, I forgot his name but I'll post it when I find my work order paper.
I told him I made an appointment in regards to my engine coolant leaking. While checking out the mileage, etc. he asks if I have intake. I said yes, it's the tube from the 350z and a pop charger. He says my intake could be the problem, without even looking. He claimed that one of the hoses could have gotten tangled. I told him I've had it for months and my problem started a few days ago.
After 1 hour they come back and tell me what I already knew, which is that I have a leak. Gee thinks can you be any more detailed? They said they don't know where it's coming from but since Cerritos Infiniti replaced the radiator in June '06 I should have them inspect it. I thought this was stupid, but whatever.
I had mentioned someone on the G35 forum said it could be the hose on the bottom of the radiator and it's known to be a problem. I never stated which forum (was reffering to driver BTW) and he said he doesn't trust the forums. He wouldn't believe any of it, basically saying they are BS. When I pointed out that I have had several issues that I found out from the forum, such as axle clicking, he said "oh everyone knows that." I let it slide but seriously, I doubt many people know that. They also didn't wash my car...bastards.
Back to the situation. I call Cerritos Infiniti and they seemed helpful. They said I can have them check out the car or I can have Metro do a pressure test. I go to Metro and tell them this and they say they will charge me for it. I said forget it. Didn't make sense why I should get charged. I called Cerritos and this is where they began ticking me off. Rather than scheduling me with an appointment they tell me to call customer care. So I do, but several days go by because of the weekend and the response I get is to take it to Cerritos Infiniti because Metro said they don't want to touch the vehicle because it could have been a faulty radiator install done by Cerritos.
I call Cerritos and the vibe I got is that they really don't want to check out the car, but I make an appointment and I have to wait another 4 days. I take my car there, wait over an hour to be told the same ****ing thing, pardon my French. They say I have a leak between the engine and intake. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out because it's freaking visible. They said it could be because of my aftermarket parts (Motordyne spacer or coolant control valve).
Prior to taking it to Cerritos I had the problem fixed. Klumzyee was nice enough to check it out and realize one of the hoses on the throttle bad did not have the clamp secured. My problem was solved and I know for a fact it was solved because when I turn off the car it didn't smell like coolant, nor did the coolant in my reservoir tank decrease, it INCREASED as it should when the vehicle gets hot. In my situation the fluid in the resorvoir tank would empty and it would also lower in the radiator itself.
I called Cerritos back and asked what they did on my car to determine the leak. They tell me they just saw it and nothing was done. I asked if they pressure tested it. They said they didn't. Now why would they urge me to have Metro do it, but they won't do it themselves?
Even more ish.... I started to realize I had rattling coming from the upper glove compartment. When Cerritos told me get my aftermarket parts checked out I asked if they can fix the rattle. They straight up said no without reason. So I had to ask. They said I would have to make another apointment. At this point I was frustrated then said forget it.
These two dealership just lost any work from me to be done in the future and hopefully others see this and pass the word.
I drove 2 weeks with coolant leaking, engine smoking (turned out to be coolant leaking on manifold and no answer as to whether or not I should refill coolant. I was hesitant at first because Cerritos told me NOT to fill it up so Metro can see it draining (even though it was evident when I brought the vehicle in), but at the same time I don't want to be responsible for something hapening the vehicle due to negligence. NOBODY gave me a straight answer, I got tossed like a damn salad, and had to deal with complete morons.
I still can't believe that 2 dealerships had my car for at least an hour and couldn't determine the exact cause of the problem, rather they blamed it on something else...yet a forum member was able to identify and fix the problem in under 30 minutes. Shows you the knowledge of the service techs and the quality of customer service.
Also, here is one other thing about Metro. Their parts guys don't know jack. I asked what the diameter of the midpipe is on the sedan and the response I got is "There is nothing that tells me that information." I ended up calling Riverside Infiniti and got an immediate answer. Sheesh.
I am actually going to write to the GM of Infiniti and the GM of each dealership. Hopefully I can get a phone conversation with any of them and notify them how my safety and vehicle's condition were at risk.
